As a kid, Lisa Q. Mathews prepped for her writing career by answering ads in the back of her mom’s magazines (“We’re Looking for People to Write Children’s Books!”). She published her first poem at seven (thanks, Fairfield Public Library contest—everyone a winner!) and her first short story in a sixth grade magazine. She also read a lot, flunking her summer camp swim test—twice—because she was absorbed in a book and forgot to show up.
After several years as a competitive figure skater and her graduation from Williams College, Lisa found the perfect job in New York City, editing new Nancy Drew mysteries. She also wrote under pseudonym for other kids’ series, including Mary-Kate and Ashley and The Lizzie McGuire Mysteries. She later became Creative Director at Random House Children’s Books and the mom of three amazing kids.
Lisa now writes from the woods of New Hampshire, where she lives with her husband, a lucky black cat, and a crazy Golden Retriever named Farley. THE LADIES SMYTHE AND WESTIN is her first mystery series for adults. She is represented by Stephany Evans of Ayesha Pande Literary.
